Refund policy

At The Silk Root, we take immense pride in offering you exclusive, handwoven, and artisanal garments. Due to the unique and delicate nature of our products, each piece is crafted with care and typically available as a single exclusive item. As such, we are only able to accept cancellations, returns, or exchanges under exceptional circumstances, as outlined below.

Cancellations

You may request to cancel your order before it has been shipped, provided that:

  • No tassels, fall, or pico work has been added at your request.
  • The item is unstitched, such as a saree, stole, or dupatta.

If your cancellation request is approved:

  • You will receive store credit equivalent to the value of your order for future purchases.
  • If you prefer a refund, please note that bank/payment gateway charges will be deducted before the refund is issued.

Please note:
Orders for fabrics or pre-made apparel/garments cannot be cancelled or returned.

Returns

Returns are accepted only in the following cases:

  • The item delivered has a manufacturing defect.
  • You received the wrong item.

Due to lighting, photography, and screen settings, minor color variations between the product image and the actual item are normal and do not qualify as defects.

To initiate a return:

  1. Email your request to thesilkroot619@gmail.com within 48 hours of receiving your parcel.
  2. Requests made after 48 hours will not be eligible.
  3. If the parcel appears tampered, unsealed, or damaged, please do not accept it. Email us immediately at thesilkroot619@gmail.com or call us at +91 9161506191.

If your return is approved:

  • Send clear photos of the defect or damage.
  • Return authorization will be issued within 5 working days.
  • Ship the item back to The Silk Root, in its original packaging, along with the original bill and tags intact, within 5 days of approval.

You may choose to receive:

  • A refund to your original payment method (note: return shipping charges and stocking fees may apply), or
  • A full refund as store credit.

We aim to process all returns within 7 working days. While we will initiate the refund promptly, processing time by your bank may vary.

Exchanges

Exchanges are allowed only if:

  • The item is unstitched and
  • No tassels/fall/pico work has been done.

You will be responsible for:

  • Any applicable custom duties (for both incoming and outgoing shipments).
  • Shipping charges for both directions (especially for international orders).

Not eligible for exchange:

  • Custom-made garments/apparel
  • Cut fabrics from full yardage
  • Any item that has been opened, unfolded, or tried on
